Last night I was on the phone with my friend (who recently committed herself to her full-time business) and she said, “YAAARR! I think this is the first time I have SPOKEN today.”
It was around 11pm.
Add that under “ things they don’t let you know until you start a business.” ;)
Now, we all know entrepreneurship is AWESOME. Building your dream business. Being your own boss? Creating an impact across boundaries. Get me in on more of that!
Laikin agar sach pocho, and if you know me -I’m all about that realness. There’s a lot more to what Instagram doesn’t show about being a business owner.
Like those days when you stay in your sleeping suit. Puraa din.
Or talk out loud to yourself just to make your voice heard.
Or start having long in-depth conversations with your teddy (“anyways….that was my day, how was yours?”)
We do what we have got to do to make things work.
With that said, it’s easier to fall into, well...a bit of a rut. Laikin sab fit hai…., bas we sometimes need to shake up our routine.
If you’re finding yourself feeling a bit bored and stuck, I have got four ways to help bust out of it and keep your cool. Here’s what works:
Make it a habit to connect with your friends and family. Whether it’s a brunch, a quick Skype session, or maybe even just a phone call, human connection is good for the soul.
P.S. Don’t put on that Netflix series you have been dying to watch.
Now, there are plenty of ways to incorporate breaks into your work routine: 45 minute intervals, power hours, etc. If you’re new to working in structured time blocks, experiment with a few different techniques and see which one suits you the most.
No matter which structure you choose, just remember to give your brain some rest every once in awhile.
What are some of your go-to strategies for breaking out of a work from home rut? Let me know in the comments below.
